Announcement for the PerfLoc Webinar of May 18, 2017

PerfLoc Navigation

Webinar Announcement

May 10, 2017

Welcome to our prize competition! We hope you are hard at work using the NIST data to develop your indoor localization apps. However, we have noticed that very few people have yet used the performance evaluation capability of the PerfLoc website. We know that PerfLoc is an ambitious and difficult challenge, and we wish to do all we can to make it easier for you to participate in the competition by developing your algorithms/apps and measuring their performance on our portal.

We hope you will be able to attend a webinar on Thursday, May 18, 2017, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM, EDT (UTC-4:00) with the following agenda:

  1. Spend a few minutes on the rules of the Competition and how you can win cash prizes and the opportunity to show off your app at the 2017 IPIN Conference in Sapporo, Japan.
  2. Spend a good bit of time on the technical aspects of working with the PerfLoc data to make it easier for you to develop your algorithms/apps, including a walk-through of the PerfLoc website.
  3. Q&A session to answer your questions in real-time.

You can always ask us any question by emailing PerfLoc [at] nist.gov (PerfLoc[at]nist[dot]gov). Answers to questions will be posted on the PerfLoc Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) web page. To get the most out of the Q&A session during the webinar, we'd like to encourage you to think ahead of time about any possible barriers you are facing to participating in the PerfLoc Prize Competition. For example, do you have any:

  • Specific challenges in using or understanding the NIST data?
  • Concerns about the feasibility of developing an app that can do a decent job of estimating the location of the smartphone based on the PerfLoc data?
  • Specific challenges in developing an algorithm and app that meet the requirements?

You must register in advance to participate in the webinar. Participation is limited to the first 150 registrants, so register today! See webinar details.

For those unable to attend the webinar, we are going to record it and post it on the PerfLoc website. We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you on the webinar!
