As the primary Federal laboratory focused on conducting research, development, testing, and evaluation for public safety communications technologies, PSCR’s role has been--and remains--objective technical advisor on early-stage research and development (R&D) projects. Due to the success of this comprehensive approach, PSCR’s charge now includes driving support for projects from early-stage R&D through commercialization. PSCR’s commercialization programs are a key component of its mission to deliver support for the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012.
By pioneering research, funding grants and open innovation, and connecting disparate stakeholders to one another, PSCR creates new opportunities for the R&D community to innovate, invent, and commercialize. We're committed to ensuring that products get into the hands of first responders.

Since 2017, PSCR’s $300M Public Safety Innovation Accelerator Program has been instrumental in funding R&D to advance communications technologies critical to first responder operations. The outcomes of the program include new partnerships formed, new companies created, patents, publications, and more.
