From research idea to market innovation
As the primary Federal laboratory focused on conducting research, development, testing, and evaluation for public safety communications technologies, PSCR’s role has been--and remains--objective technical advisor on early-stage research and development (R&D) projects. Due to the success of this comprehensive approach, PSCR’s charge now includes driving support for projects from early-stage R&D through commercialization. PSCR’s commercialization programs are a key component of its mission to deliver support for the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012.

Since 2017, PSCR’s $300M Public Safety Innovation Accelerator Program has been instrumental in funding R&D to advance communications technologies critical to first responder operations. The outcomes of the program include new partnerships formed, new companies created, patents, publications, and more.
