Pulse Accelerator

The Pulse Accelerator helped emerging technology companies accelerate growth and development that supports the public safety and first responder sectors.

Working together in a collaborative program, participants engaged directly with specialists and experts from business, technology and public safety to develop a plan for commercialization of their solution. The program was geared towards innovators, inventors, and entrepreneurs who are currently operating or planning to operate a startup.

The four previous pilot rounds of the accelerator ran from March - June 2021, September - December 2021, February – May 2022, and April – June 2024.

This video provides a summary of NIST PSCR's virtual accelerator program.

Program Highlights

  • Participants paid only with their commitment and dedication to improving their business, as the cost of the accelerator was covered by PSCR.
  • These 8- and 12-week virtual programs were designed by implementers with over 10 years of experience accelerating technology-based businesses.
  • Participants engaged with a real-world entrepreneurial business development program focused on commercialization.
  • Participants received over 50 hours of ongoing strategic consulting and market research to help validate existing target markets, expand understanding, and uncover new opportunities.
  • The program used non-dilutive capital sources, so the business did not have to give away equity associated with their participation.
  • The participants worked with hand-picked, highly experienced specialists and subject matter experts who are active in their field.

Participants were either existing business entities or planning to be one. The business founder(s) and key decision-makers committed to full participation during the sessions and throughout the 8- or 12-week process.

The Pulse Accelerator is hosted by NIST PSCR and powered by Tipping Point Solutions. Rounds 1-3 partnered with Boulder Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Foundation and Round 4 partnered with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University.
