K12 Cybersecurity Education Community of Interest

Focus: 

This Community of Interest is a forum for K12 teachers, school administrators, local and state education agencies, non-profit organizations, federal agencies, institutions of higher education, and others who are interested in sharing and learning how to grow and sustain diverse students pursuing cybersecurity careers through learning experiences, exposure to career opportunities, and teacher professional development. View the previous K12 Subgroup Charter here. The new K12 Cybersecurity Education Community of Interest charter will be developed soon.

This group meets the second week of every month at 3:30pm ET on alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays. Members will receive a calendar invite one week prior to the meeting date. All meetings are held via BlueJeans unless otherwise indicated.

  • Removing Roadblocks for Hands-on Cybersecurity Experiences in K12 - Developing a resource that highlights the advantages and addresses stakeholders’ concerns will help remove the roadblocks that keep schools from supporting hands-on cybersecurity curriculum and competitions.   • K12 Educational Materials: Content Review and Repository Recommendations - Collection and review of K12 educational materials that can be used to inspire cybersecurity career awareness with students in elementary school, stimulate cybersecurity career exploration in middle school, and enable cybersecurity career preparedness in high school.   • K12 Cybersecurity Educational Instructional Professional Development (PD) Series - Determining the professional development needs of K-12 educators in delivering K-12 cybersecurity content and outlining best practices for delivering cybersecurity instruction in the K-12 setting that have proven effective in similar disciplines.
