naval research laboratory logo

In 1908, by invitation of Dr. Stratton, the Navy began using NBS facilities as an aid in solving their problems with communication equipment. They were known as the United States Naval Wireless Telegraph Laboratory with Dr. Austin in their employ.

They remained that until 1923 when they moved to Bellevue, Anacostia, in S.E. Washington, D.C. and became the Naval Research Laboratory.
