Standards
NIST administers the US Mirror Committee to the ISO Technical Committee on Biotechnology (ISO/TC 276) and within this committee leads the development of several international standards, including cell counting standards. A new initiative is the development of a standard that articulates general principles to improve the confidence in cell measurements. Recommendations for conducting nucleic acid measurements are also under development. In addition, NIST supports the development of bioprocessing stndards, including standards for raw materials, scaleable cell manufacturing, equipment control, storage and transportation.
