Description and Purpose:
This session will cover the requirements in NIST Handbook 143 (essentially ISO/IEC 17025) on Measurement Assurance (Section 5.9). we will specifically cover Control charting techniques, reviews, assessments, and system-level assessments of measurement assurance systems. Specific tools for administrative practices include a Measurement Assurance System Assessment that requires preliminary evaluation in your laboratory, and we will discuss one assessment that you conduct and submit prior to the seminar. (NOTE: This is not a 'how to create control charts' session.)

Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, using your notes and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 participants will be able to:
- DESCRIBE their measurement assurance system during a Management Review;
- REVIEW example control charts for problems, trends, and stability and be able to
- IDENTIFY assignable causes and possible action items; and
- CONDUCT a system level assessment of their Measurement Assurance components.
Audience
Laboratory metrology staff and administrators who are new to measurement assurance with control charts or who would like to review the SOP 30. The session would also be useful for metrology staff who will be conducting on-the-job-training for new staff members.
Pre-Work
- Read SOP 9, Control Charts for Calibration of Mass Standards, and SOP 30, Process Measurement Assurance Program. Available here: Resources: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Review at least one control chart for your laboratory using the SOP 9 Appendix A Checklist for Creation or Evaluation of Control Charts. Determine if action items are needed to make improvements.
- Complete the Measurement Assurance System Assessment for ONE measurement parameter in your laboratory and submit it to the instructor for review prior to the session. We will share and review completed assessments during the webinar.

The current registration fee for webinars is $350 and confirmed participants will be sent payment instructions. Registration fees for State weights and measures metrologists are funded by NIST OWM.

Microsoft Teams requirements:
- Computer. At least a 1.1 GHz, two-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 3GB of hard drive space for basic use. For a better experience, especially with video, a more powerful processor like a 4-core model is recommended.
- Software and Operating System. The operating system must be a supported version of Windows, macOS, or Linux, or a mobile OS like Android or iOS.
- Windows: Windows 11, Windows 10 (excluding LTSC), Windows 10 on ARM, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2012 R2.
- macOS: Check the specific requirements for the version of macOS you are using.
- Linux: Teams for Linux is available as a progressive web app (PWA) and works on supported desktop environments like GNOME or KDE.
- Mobile: Supported on the last four major versions of Android and the last two major versions of iOS.
- Internet Network (Bandwidth): A fast internet connection is recommended for video calls and screen sharing. Microsoft recommends a minimum of 10 mbps up/down per Teams Room. Teams prioritizes audio over video quality.
- Display. Minimum 1024x768 resolution.
- Video camera. USB 2.0.
- Speakers.
- Microphone.
