$36 Billion+ in CHIPS for America Funding Announced
The bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act was signed into law on August 9, 2022 – creating a $52 billion investment to revitalize America’s domestic semiconductor industry and strengthen the country’s economic and national security. CHIPS for America within the U.S. Department of Commerce is responsible for administering $50 billion of the investments in semiconductor incentives and funding for research and development programs. The activities on this page continue the implementation phase of this bipartisan program to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States, strengthen global supply chains, and secure America’s technology leadership in the 21st century.

Micron (Virginia) – Manassas, VA
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS Program Office
The CHIPS for America award will provide Micron Virginia direct funding to expand and modernize their fabrication facility in Manassas, Virginia to onshore critical technology from Taiwan and greatly improve supply chain resiliency for automotive and industrial markets and the defense industrial base.
Edwards Vacuum (New York) – Genesee County, NYAward Amount: up to $18 million in direct funding
CHIPS Organization
CHIPS Program Office
This CHIPS investment will help ensure a reliable domestic supply of important equipment needed for semiconductor manufacturing. This would be a meaningful step towards strengthening U.S. economic and national security, as currently, there is no domestic production of semiconductor-grade dry vacuum pumps.
GlobalFoundries (Vermont) – Burlington, VTAward Amount: $125 million in direct funding
