CHRNS CANDOR

NSF: Chromatic Analysis Neutron Diffractometer Or Reflectometer (CANDOR)

Neutron spin filters can be applied to both specular and off-specular reflectivity measurements requiring different field orientations. The schematic shown above illustrates the use of a NSF on CANDOR. In this example, the NSF is the analyzer for a polarized beam measurement with a vertical field. The 3He analyzer may be used for P perpendicular to Q or P parallel to Q without any tuning/calibration. For more details concerning the neutron spin filter and RF spin flipper, please see the references {Chen04}, {Hassan19} and {Chen21}. For more info concerning the CANDOR instrument, please contact Alex Grutter or Brian Maranville (contact info below).
