Tennessee Governor's Letter about Centennial

STATE OF TENNESSEE

DON SUNDQUIST
GOVERNOR

March 1, 2001

United States Department of Commerce
National Institute of Standards and Technology
Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899

Dear Friends:

As Governor of Tennessee, I would like to offer my congratulations on the occasion of the Grand Opening of the State Hall of Flags in Gaithersburg, Maryland. It is truly an honor to have our state represented in the National Institute of Standards and Technology's State Hall.

Since 1901, the National Institute of Standards and Technology was founded as a way to measure advances in commerce and research. Since then, the NIST has supported Tennessee's business organizations, breathing life into upstart ventures and offering innovation through new technology.

May the State Hall of Flags serve as a reminder of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's continued commitment and service to every state.

Warm regards,

Don Sundquist
