On behalf of all Virginians, I take great pleasure in offering congratulations to you upon your 100th Anniversary. During these last one hundred years since Congress signed the legislation chartering the National Bureau of Standards, currently known as the National Institute of Standards and Technology, your organization has been an invaluable asset to the citizens of this Commonwealth and an extremely effective resource to our great nation.
Your dedicated and committed work has been instrumental in promoting advancements in such areas as commerce, communications, and public safety, to name only a few. The research and innovative leadership provided by your very competent team of employees is commendable, and the NIST continues to play an integral role in the advancement of national standards. You have proven yourselves to be worthy of the highest recognition.
I extend my sincere best wishes as you rise to the challenges of the future, and I look forward to the many positive contributions you will offer Virginia and the United States of America in the years to come.
