SANS Software Installation

Please install/verify the software below on the laptop you will bring to the school:

Analysis: SasView

We will be working with the latest version of SasView. Please download the latest version for your system from https://github.com/SasView/sasview/releases/latest.

Windows Users
  • Download the installable executable
  • Open the .exe file once it is downloaded, and you will be prompted to provide a location on your disk where the application will be installed. The default location is ideal, but feel free to select a different location.
  • When the installation is finished, the program will be available from the Start menu.
Macos Users
  • Download the dmg file for your system. Newer Macs, with M1/2 processors, should download the ARM version. Older Macs should download the Intel version.
  • Open the .dmg file once it is downloaded and copy the app file within it to your preferred location.
  • Launch the app file to start the program.
Linux users
  • A Flatpak release is available on Flathub.
  • SasView is an available package for Debian.

Reduction: Igor Macros

Advanced reduction techniques require the latest version of Igor Pro Reduction Macros. The NCNR SANS reduction macros run in the commercial software suite Igor Pro. You do not need to purchase a license of Igor Pro to run the macros, the trial version will allow macros to operate. Reduction: reductus

Basic SANS reduction at NCNR is processed in the online reductus application, hosted at https://reductus.nist.gov

The application is designed to work in an updated Chrome, Firefox or Safari browser (with JavaScript enabled) Please verify that the site loads and looks like this in your browser, prior to the school:
