Materials and Structural Systems Division

Materials and Structural Systems Division serves as the world-class resource for developing and promoting the use of science-based tools – measurements, data, models, protocols, and reference standards – to enhance both the global competitiveness of U.S. industry through innovations in building materials and construction technology; and the safety, security, and sustainability of the nation’s buildings and physical infrastructure.

Energy and Environment Division

The Energy and Environment Division develops measurement science, predictive models, and performance metrics to improve the energy efficiency of building components and systems, reduce building related CO2 emissions, enhance the quality of the indoor environment, and improve the building design and construction process through the integration of information, communications, sensing, and automation technologies.
