Quasi-Deterministic-Channel-Propagation Model for a Data Center at 60 GHz

April 30, 2018
Author(s)
Camillo Gentile, Peter B. Papazian, Roy Sun, Jelena Senic, Jian Wang
We describe a measurement campaign conducted in a data center, a unique environment in which transceivers are positioned above the server racks. A total of 80 channel acquisitions, including small-scale measurements, were recorded using our 3D double

Thermally driven anomalous Hall effect transitions in FeRh

April 30, 2018
Author(s)
Adrian Popescu, Pablo Rodrigues-Lopez, Paul M. Haney, Lilia M. Woods
Materials exhibiting controllable magnetic phase transitions are currently in demand for many spintronics applications. Here we investigate from first principles the electronic structure and intrinsic anomalous Hall, spin Hall and anomalous Nernst response

Magnetic Ordering in a Frustrated Bow-Tie Lattice

April 28, 2018
Author(s)
Laura J. Vera Stimpson, Efrain E. Rodriquez, Craig Brown, Gavin B. G. Stenning, Marek Jura, Donna C. Arnold
We report a systematic elastic and inelastic powder neutron diffraction study of the geometrically frustrated material, Ca 2Mn 3O 8. Ca 2Mn 3O 8 exhibits a "bow-tie" like connectivity of Mn 4+ with Ca 2+ occupying octahedral sites between MnO 6 layers

On influential trends in interactive video retrieval:Video Browser Showdown 2015-2017

April 27, 2018
Author(s)
George Awad, Jakub Lokoc, Werner Bailer, Klaus Schoeffmann, Bernd Muenzer
The last decade has seen innovations, that made video recording, manipulation, storage and sharing devised as simple as never before, thus impacting many areas of life. New video retrieval scenarios emerged as well, which challenge the state-of-the-art

Recommended practice for calibrating vacuum gauges of the ionization type

April 27, 2018
Author(s)
James A. Fedchak, Patrick J. Abbott, Jay H. Hendricks, Paul C. Arnold, Neil T. Peacock
This document represents a recommended practice for the calibration of ionization gauges using the comparison method. In this method, ionization gauges are compared to a working standard that has an SI traceable calibration. The ionization gauge is either

In situ infrared spectroscopy during La2O3 ALD using La(iPrCp)3 and H2O

April 26, 2018
Author(s)
Brent A. Sperling, James E. Maslar, Sergei Ivanov
Infrared spectra have been obtained during atomic layer deposition using tris(isopropylcyclopentadienyl)lanthanum, La(iPrCp)3, and water as precursors at 160 °C and 350 °C. Gas-phase spectra of La(iPrCp)3 are additionally obtained for comparison. At low

Naturally Tuned Quantum Critical Point in the S = 1 Kagome YCa 3 (VO) 3 (BO 3 ) 4

April 26, 2018
Author(s)
Harlyn J. Silverstein, Ryan Sinclair, Arzoo Sharma, Yiming Qiu, Ivo Heinmaa, Alexander Leitmae, Christopher R. Wiebe, R. Stern, Haidong Zhou
Although S = 1/2 kagome systems have been intensely studied theoretically, and within the last decade been realized experimentally, much less is known about the S = 1 analogues. While the theoretical ground state is still under debate, it has been found

Terrestrial laser scanner geometric error model parameter correlations in the Two-face, Length-consistency, and Network methods of self-calibration

April 26, 2018
Author(s)
Balasubramanian Muralikrishnan, Ling Wang, Prem K. Rachakonda, Daniel S. Sawyer
Terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) are increasingly used in a variety of applications where accuracies on the order of few tenths of a millimeter or smaller are routinely demanded. Self-calibration is a quick and cost-effective way to improve the accuracy of

Evaluation of Spacecraft Smoke Detector Performance in the Low-Gravity Environment

April 25, 2018
Author(s)
Jiann C. Yang, Thomas G. Cleary, Marit Meyer, D L. Urban, George W. Mulholland, Victoria Bryg, Zeng-guang Yuan, Gary A. Ruff
In the interest of fire prevention, most materials used in the interior construction of manned spacecraft are non- flammable, however, they do produce smoke when overheated. Spacecraft smoke detectors will ideally detect smoke generated by oxidative

Improving the Trustworthiness of E-Mail, and Beyond!

April 25, 2018
Author(s)
Scott W. Rose, Larry Feldman, Gregory A. Witte
This bulletin summarizes the information found in NIST SP 1800-6: Domain Name System-Based Electronic Mail Security, which describes a security platform for trustworthy email exchanges across organizational boundaries.

The Costs and Benefits of Advanced Maintenance in Manufacturing

April 25, 2018
Author(s)
Douglas Thomas
The manufacturing atmosphere is continually changing with new technologies and standards being swiftly developed. Firms create competitive advantages using their knowledge, skills, supply chains, and processes to create superior products at lower prices

The role of mass spectrometry in the characterization of biologic protein products

April 25, 2018
Author(s)
Deepali Rathore, John E. Schiel, Anneliese Faustino, Eric Pang, Michael Boyne, Sarah M. Rogstad
Introduction: Mass spectrometry (MS) is widely used in the characterization of biomolecules including peptide and protein therapeutics. These biotechnology products have seen rapid growth over the past few decades and continue to dominate the global

A Metal-Organic Framework with Optimized Porosity and Functional Sites for High Gravimetric and Volumetric Methane Storage Working Capacities

April 24, 2018
Author(s)
Hui-Min Wen, Bin Li, Libo Li, Rui-Biao Lin, Wei Zhou, Guodong Qian, Banglin Chen
Extensive research has been devoted to develop new porous materials for high methane storage capacity. While great progress has been made in recent years, it still remains very challenging to target simultaneously high gravimetric and volumetric methane

Calibration of mobile manipulators using 2D positional features

April 24, 2018
Author(s)
Mili Shah, Roger V. Bostelman, Steven Legowik, Tsai H. Hong
Robotic manipulators are increasingly being attached to Automatic Ground Vehicles (AGVs) to aid in the effi-ciency of assembly for manufacturing systems. However, calibrating these mobile manipulators is difficult as the offset between the robotic manipulator
