Kibble Dynamic Force Standards

Kibble dynamic force balance
Credit: NIST

The Kibble principle provides SI-traceable force determination from measurements of current, voltage and velocity. We are developing versions of these for application at high (> 10 Hz) AC frequencies, for dynamic force traceability. These can take the form of portable dynamic force sources for traceable calibration of dynamic force measurement systems, or be directly integrated into force measuring devices.
