NIST offers post-doctoral research associateships in collaboration with the National Research Council (NRC). A few research topics and associated advisers in the Magnetic Imaging Group are listed below. Complete information and applications forms for all NIST NRC postdoctoral offerings are available at http://sites.nationalacademies.org/pga/RAP/index.htm. There, to find opportunities at different laboratories, click on "Getting Started" in the left margin and then "Search for Research Opportunities" on the following page, or go directly to http://nrc58.nas.edu/RAPLab10/Opportunity/Search.aspx. Contact a prospective adviser to discuss details of proposed work and the application process. Application deadlines are February 1 and August 1 but you must start developing your application and proposal months before the deadline. If you do not find a topic that exactly matches your interest, or for referrals or other inquiries, you may contact Gary Zabow, gary.zabow [at] nist.gov (gary[dot]zabow[at]nist[dot]gov). U.S. citizenship is required for NRC postdoctoral appointments.

After you have decided on an adviser and a project, register to complete the electronic application at http://nrc58.nas.edu/nrcwebrap/rap/login/login.asp. Instructions for completing the application are at http://sites.nationalacademies.org/pga/RAP/PGA_046398. Once you register, you may return to the system as often as you like. It is not necessary to complete all forms at the same time. You can return after you submit the application to check the status of receipt of your supporting documents.
