Andrew Novick

Andrew Novick is an electrical engineer at NIST. He builds and deploys measurement systems for time and frequency calibration of atomic clocks and sometimes steers them remotely. Novick also created the time.gov web clock.

Jeffrey Cichonski

Jeff Cichonski is an Information Technology Specialist working with a broad array of technologies at the National Institute of Standards and Technology; working in the Applied Cybersecurity Division of the Information Technology Laboratory. He is an active member of 3GPP’s SA3 working group, the standards group responsible for specifying cellular security architectures and has been engaged in the development of 5G security. He is leading the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence’s 5G Cybersecurity effort, a collaboration with industry providing a holistic approach to cybersecurity for 5g systems. Jeff has also been involved applied cybersecurity research focusing on cybersecurity for industrial control systems, next generation credentials, and LTE network security, with a specific interest in security for public safety cellular Implementations. He has a Bachelor of Science In Information Science and Technology from Penn State University.

Cindy Matsuki

Cindy Matsuki is the Small Business Innovation Research Program Manager for INNOVATE Hawaii, which is part of the MEP National Network. She previously worked at Hawaii Technology Development Corporation, serving as the Economic Development Specialist. She has worked in marketing and business development with a local tech company and with Hawaii’s Foreign-Trade Zone No. 9. Matsuki’s expertise includes business development, training, event planning, design thinking, marketing, and project management.

Kamie Roberts

Kamie Roberts has just returned to NIST after serving six years as the director of the National Coordination Office (NCO) for the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Program at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The NITRD Program is the nation’s primary source of federally funded research and development in advanced information technologies. Roberts has served her entire career at NIST, covering a broad range of research from networking to big data to health IT and more. She earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in computer science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in computer science from George Washington University.

Carolyn Rowland

Carolyn Rowland is a supervisory computer scientist in NIST’s Engineering Laboratory (EL). She serves as IT adviser to the EL and manages a group of research software engineers and IT service people who specialize in working with researchers to solve problems relating to research data, technologies, tools and platforms, and cybersecurity. She is also the lead cybersecurity officer for the EL. Rowland has spent her career at NIST starting from a technical role as a Unix system administrator to someone who works to address research IT service delivery issues across the institution. Rowland earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan Technological University.

Elham Tabassi

Elham Tabassi is NIST chief AI advisor and the associate director for emerging technologies in NIST’s Information Technology Laboratory. She also leads NIST’s Trustworthy and Responsible AI program that cultivates the development and deployment of safe, secure, and trustworthy AI systems. She was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in Artificial Intelligence in September 2023. Tabassi has been working on various machine learning and computer vision research projects with applications in biometrics evaluation and standards since she joined NIST in 1999.

Phil Chadderdon

Phil is a Manufacturing and Business Growth Advisor with the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC), part of the MEP National Network. He focuses on building skills that support a culture of continuous improvement. Phil has worked in manufacturing for 30-plus years in the papermaking, nonwovens, electrical insulation, electronics and metal fabrication industries, including positions as a Technical Director, Plant Manager, and General Manager.

Jerilyn Izac

Jerilyn Izac joined NIST as a biologist in the Biosystems and Biomaterials Division in 2021. She received her Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. Before coming to NIST, she was awarded a T32 training grant in vaccinology during her postdoc at University of Maryland Baltimore. Her research interests include vaccines, gene delivery systems, and B and T cell immunology. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing with her daughter, Rosie, and walking her two greyhounds, the Dude and Yoyo.
