Tara Eskandari is Deputy Chief of the Biosystems and Biomaterials Division at NIST’s Material Measurement Laboratory. Her responsibilities include leading division activities in strategic planning, program development and management, personnel development, strategic partnerships, and outreach/communications.
Prior to joining NIST, Tara served as Chief Administrative Officer for the Lieber Institute for Brain Development (LIBD), a translational research institute affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she was a founding core member and a member of the executive leadership team. She led key policy and operations functions and was responsible for fostering and managing strategic partnerships and research collaborations with industry partners and affiliated institutions. Prior to LIBD, she worked at several biotech companies including Sigma-Aldrich, QIAGEN and GeneLogic.
Tara’s background includes over 25 years of experience in various roles including executive leadership, research at the NIH and biotech companies, bioinformatics, program management, and laboratory infrastructure and team development.
