Tara Eskandari (Fed)

Deputy Division Chief

Tara Eskandari is Deputy Chief of the Biosystems and Biomaterials Division (BBD) at NIST’s Material Measurement Laboratory. Her responsibilities include leading division activities in strategic planning, program development and management, personnel development, strategic partnerships, and outreach/communications.  Tara’s background includes experience in various roles including executive leadership, research at the NIH and biotech companies, bioinformatics, program management, and laboratory infrastructure and team development.

2021 GEORGE A. URIANO AWARD (shared with Samantha Maragh) - group award for leadership in establishing the NIST Genome Editing Consortium to develop measurements and standards that increase confidence in genome-edited products, which offer a novel approach to treat and cure disease.
