Deliverables:

Support the AMTech-funded LyoHUB consortium in expanding their existing technology roadmap that aims to strengthen pharmaceutical cold chain and aseptic drying technologies.

  1. Address new product modalities such as mRNA vaccines, cell and gene therapies
  2. Include freeze-thaw and alternative aseptic drying technologies
  3. Create infrastructure for roadmap implementation projects and workforce training on current and emerging technologies.

Activities:

  • Convene a series of workshops that will bring together industry members representing the broader freeze-thaw and aseptic drying value chain along with representatives from government, academia, and professional societies.
  • Publish the LyoHUB 2.0 roadmap on the consortium website and in a series of technical articles in open access journals for free public access.

Potential Impacts:

Development of new methods to stabilize drug products to more rapidly deploy therapeutics to meet public health needs. The advancement of freezing and aseptic drying technologies will strengthen the country’s pandemic readiness and will secure access of the U.S. public to life-saving medicines.
