The NCNR uses the web-based Information Management System (IMS) to track interactions with its facility users.
The following steps must be followed before a first time user can obtain unescorted access to the NIST site and unescorted access to the experimental areas of the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR).
If you have any questions, please contact the NCNR User Office (K07) at 301-975-8200 or email ncnraccess [at] nist.gov (ncnraccess[at]nist[dot]gov).
Proposal-based access:
- Create an NCNR-IMS account
- Submit a proposal in response to an open call for proposals
- If the proposal is granted time, NCNR staff will assign dates for the experiment.
- The NCNR user office will provide the necessary documentation to create access credentials
- The process for creating credentials cannot begin until users have accurately completed ALL the required documentation.
- Once documentation is complete, the NCNR user office will provide the steps to obtain campus access and complete the required training prior to the start of the experiment.
Collaborative Access:
- Create an NCNR-IMS account
- Contact the most relevant instrument scientist to discuss possibilities for collaboration.
- If accepted, submit a Beam Time Request.
- NCNR staff will assign dates for the experiment.
