  • Shrinking Your Tech: Neutron research was "seminal" to the development of Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR). This technology allowed hard drives to shrink from the size of a refrigerator to the size of a coin while holding thousands of times more data. This advancement alone created over $75 billion in value for consumers.
  • Ensuring Safer Skies: Aircraft parts can develop "residual stress"—tiny, invisible cracks—during manufacturing. Neutrons can penetrate deep into metal to find these flaws where X-rays cannot.
