Summer High School Intern Program, SHIP

CHRNS supports the Summer High School Intern Program, SHIP for Juniors and Seniors to do cutting edge research under the direction of NIST Scientist and Engineers.  Some of this research has resulted in publications in scientific journals.

SHIP students will not be paid and are expected to provide their own housing and transportation. The program requires a commitment for a contiguous 8-week period (nominal hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM). This program is open only to United States citizens.

In 2020, the program is tentatively scheduled to start on Wednesday, June 17. The SHIP poster sessions (which all students are required to attend and participate in) will be held Tuesday through Thursday, August 4-6, 2020.  Furthermore, students from the NCNR will give oral presentations on their research during the final week of the program.  Examples of presentations from previous years are available.

Applications are accepted on-line only between December 1 and February 1.

For further details see the NIST SHIP web page.
