The CHRNS SHIP Program at the NCNR

The Summer High school Internship Program (SHIP) is an NIST-wide, 8-week internship program which provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to do cutting edge research under the direction of NIST scientists and engineers.  SHIP students will not be paid and are expected to provide their own housing and transportation. The next program will run from June 2024 - August 2024.  Learn more

The NIST Center for Neutron Research SHIP sub-program is focused in the areas of Materials Science (Polymers, Ceramics, Metallurgy, etc.), Condensed Matter Science, Bio Materials, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Computational Science and related fields.  To apply to this sub-program, please select “NCNR” as your first-choice laboratory when applying. Students from the NCNR will give oral presentations on their research during the final week of the program in addition to the NIST-wide poster session, which is required for all SHIP students.
