Dante Valve is a leading manufacturer and distributor of valves and related products serving industrial and military markets, including the U.S. Navy. At its Norfolk, VA facility, Dante Valve produces military specification Danco pressure relief valves used throughout the Navy fleet—from Nimitz-class to Ford-class aircraft carriers. The company also supplies Kunkle relief valves, TRAC regulating valves, fittings, and flanges, and provides CNC machining services. With over 60 employees across three U.S. locations, Dante Valve is recognized for engineering excellence, product reliability, and a customer-focused service culture.

The Challenge

Dante Valve’s leadership acknowledged the need to:

  • Enhance workplace safety and ensure OSHA compliance
  • Reduce injury risk and improve training effectiveness
  • Boost efficiency and productivity quickly.

The company sought a structured approach that would promote lasting improvements in safety culture and performance.

MEP's Role

GENEDGE partnered with Dante Valve to develop and implement a comprehensive safety improvement program.

Key components included:

  • Development of safety policies and procedures
  • Formation of a dedicated safety team
  • Employee safety training and engagement sessions
  • Implementation of incident investigation protocols.
  • Incorporation of Lean/5S principles to enhance organization and process flow

The program was customized to align with Dante Valve’s culture and operational goals, ensuring successful adoption and long-term sustainability.

After six months, GENEDGE's program evaluation revealed significant progress:

  • Marked aisles and organized work areas
  • Consistent Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage
  • Streamlined workflows
  • A clear shift toward proactive safety practices

Leadership’s visible commitment reinforced the message that safety is a fundamental company value, not merely a compliance requirement.
