About

Suburban Manufacturing Company is a manufacturer of a variety of furnace and wall heater models for mobile or stationary vehicles and trailers and is Located in Dayton, Tennessee. Suburban Manufacturing Company state-of-the-art style and features in Suburban’s elite line of RV furnaces, wall and water heaters and indoor and outdoor cooking appliances. Their products enable the comfort of home to be accessed on the road for RV experiences undaunted by cold water, cold weather, or confined cooking spaces.  The company has approximately 350 employees.

The Challenge

To continue improvement in manufacturing and product design Suburban Manufacturing Company desired to develop their engineering expertise in problem solving and process improvement with training and certification as Lean Six Sigma Green Belts. Suburban turned to Tennessee MEP, part of the MEP National Network™, for help.

MEP's Role

The Tennessee MEP team proposed 10 days of Lean Six Sigma training and up to four days project coaching to ensure project completion and Green Belt certification. Tennessee MEP assisted with project selection and collaborated with Suburban's management to evaluate performance for certification.
