Implementation of Engineering Control System: Moser Energy Systems

With the help of: Manufacturing Works

Since 1973, Moser Energy Systems, based in Casper, Wyoming, was built on a foundation as an industry leader in power generation and industrial engine innovation and reliability. Whether prime power or standby power, Moser has a solution to fit the power needs for oil and gas, commercial and industrial, demand response and grid-interactive, microgrids and events. Moser's natural gas generators and diesel generators are designed and built to perform reliably in all situations, from urban environments to the oilfield’s harsh conditions.

The Challenge

Due to rapid business growth, Moser’s engineering systems were outgrown and needed to be scalable to keep up with current and future growth. Moser needed to expand their engineering change management system (ECM) and capacity. Moser wanted to do it right the first time, so they turned to Manufacturing Works, part of the MEP National Network™.

Thank you and the Manufacturing Works team for your invaluable support in assisting Moser Energy in establishing our engineering change management project. This will go a long way towards positioning Moser as a state-of-the-art engineering company enabling us to better engage our corporate goals. The experience has been so successful that we recently hired one of the UW interns that participated on the project. He has quickly distinguished himself as a key contributor and future leader of our engineering team. It is very satisfying to see talented individuals stay close to home and help advance our company and the state of Wyoming into emerging and high-tech markets.

— Darrin Moorman, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Innovation

MEP's Role

Upon assessment of Moser’s engineering department and systems, Manufacturing Works proposed implementing Microsoft ECM, documenting internal processes, standardizing SolidWorks files nomenclature, and utilizing UW engineering and MBA students to cost-effectively update these items.
