Douglas Industries, LLC Receives Local Economic Development Grant.

About

Douglas Industries, LLC, originally founded in 1984 as Task Machine Fabrication, is located in Chillicothe, Ohio, in Ross County. They are a family-owned business that employs 15 people and specializes in machining, fabrication, and integration of industrial automation systems and services in Ohio throughout North America.

The Challenge

The company had experienced significant growth through their innovative and cost-effective services which allowed them to capitalize on some very large regional manufacturer contracts. With this increase in workload, Douglas Industries, LLC needed to purchase new equipment and hire additional employees to keep up with the demand of their services. In short they needed to increase machining capacity.
With the assistance of the Ohio State University South Centers MEP we were able to secure a grant that allowed us to purchase a vital piece of equipment in our expansion plans. The ability of the OSU South Centers MEP to walk us through the entire grant submission process provided value far beyond the grant award amount.
— Brenda Gordon, Co-Owner

MEP's Role

Growth Advisor Kelly O'Bryant of the Ohio MEP, a NIST MEP affiliate, informed Douglas Industries of the Fluor-BWXT Opportunity Fund, along with the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO), economic development grant. Kelly has worked with Douglas Industries for several years and her knowledge of the company, as well as the opportunity grant process, made it possible for her to write and submit the grant on their behalf.
Douglas Industries used the $17,636 grant to invest in a new state-of-the-art lathe to support the needs of local paper-industry customers such as Sofidel and Pixelle.
