Moneer Helu

Moneer Helu is the leader of the Lifecycle Engineering Group in the Systems Integration Division of the NIST Engineering Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an S.B. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. An analog enthusiast in a digital world, Moneer enjoys collecting watches, fountain pens, and stamps.

Alex Boss

Alex Boss is a general assignment writer in NIST's Communications and Outreach Office, covering standard reference materials, Hollings Marine Lab, and filling in other topics. She also contributes to social and website content, drafting spotlights, taking photos, and assisting in user testing of the websites. She has a B.S. in biology from Rhodes College and an M.A. in health and medical journalism from the University of Georgia. Her favorite pastimes include playing in DC’s recreational soccer leagues, hanging out with her dog, Bella, and drinking chai lattes.

Milissa McGinnis

Milissa McGinnis is a MITRE contractor working as a Senior Communications and Outreach Strategist alongside NIST staff at its National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). She spent nearly 20 years working on U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) contracts, where she managed communication projects for reducing counterfeit medicines, decreasing gender-based violence, and increasing global food security, among many others. She received her B.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University and her M.A. in International Relations and Intercultural Communications from Syracuse University.

George Awad

George Awad has been supporting the TRECVID project at NIST since 2007. He has a Ph.D. in computer science from Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. His current main research activities includes evaluating video search engines using real-world datasets. He previously co-organized international tutorials and workshops and has several publications in international conferences and academic journals. He jointly received the 57th Niwa-Takayanagi Best Paper Prize awarded by the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers (ITE) and the 2018 IEEE Computer Society PAMI Mark Everingham Prize.

Katie Boeckl is a privacy risk strategist with the Privacy Engineering Program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In this role, she works to advance international privacy standards, develops privacy risk management guidance, and manages the Privacy Engineering Collaboration Space. At NIST, Katie has helped develop the NIST Privacy Framework, served on the joint task force working group for NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-37, Revision 2: Guide for Applying the Risk Management Framework to Federal Information Systems, worked to implement the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), and contributed to NIST SP 800-63, revision 3: Digital Identity Guidelines. Katie has a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she specialized in technology through a digital cultures honors program.
