Fastlane Provides Spintech with Automation Support and Access to the Ohio Defense Manufacturing Community

About

Spintech Holdings Inc., based in Miamisburg, Ohio, offers innovative composite manufacturing solutions and high-value composite parts for aerospace and defense manufacturers worldwide. The Smart Tooling division provides reusable composite tooling, and the Hawthorn Composite division uses advanced techniques to produce high-quality, cost-effective composite parts.

The Challenge

One of Spintech’s key customers needed a product that requires a lot of detailed work. Manufacturing this product involves drilling, cutting, deburring, and trimming. When these activities are done manually, they take up a lot of man-hours. Spintech aimed to automate these processes to improve quality consistency and reduce the time needed to produce these parts.
When we have a need, FastLane seems to always do what they can to support us in that growth. They have helped us with marketing, cybersecurity, AS9100 certification, and automation.
— Craig Jennings, CEO

MEP's Role

FastLane used the Ohio Defense Manufacturing Community grant to help Spintech get an automation solution that met their customers’ needs. As a result, they can now produce multiple parts in the same time it used to take to make one. This has allowed employees to work on new projects. Spintech was able to take on more work and grow because of the time saved. Spintech increased from 20 to 30 full-time employees and is on track to double last year’s orders.
