Scientific & Technical Review (STR) Process

OSAC Scientific & Technical Reviews (STRs) provide an independent technical review of OSAC Proposed Standards going through the OSAC Registry approval process and offer comments to strengthen the document.

STRs are required for OSAC Proposed Standards that address:

  • Method development
  • Method validation
  • Methods, practices and procedures
  • Quality assurance
  • Reporting and testimony

STRs evaluate the following seven criteria:

  • Scientific & technical merit
  • Human factors
  • Quality assurance
  • Scope & purpose
  • Terminology
  • Method description
  • Reporting results
