MTEC Provides Assistance and a Funding Opportunity for Inertia's Existing Advanced Switch Test Systems

About

Inertia Switch Inc. is a full-service turnkey design, engineering and manufacturing firm founded in 1950 located in Rockland County, New York.  The company designs and manufactures precision acceleration switches.  Their products serve military, aerospace, and transportation companies, and as such, repeatedly design and deliver high quality reliable products to these critical industry sectors.

The Challenge

The Manufacturing & Technology Enterprise Center (MTEC), formerly Hudson Valley Technology Development Center (HVTDC), part of the New York MEP and the MEP National Network™, applied for and secured a grant from Fuzehub, also part of the New York MEP and the MEP National Network™, to support the modernization of Inertia's switch testing system quality data collection and use.
MTEC's Lead Engineer Bob Incerto provided excellent engineering services to get us the automated information we needed for our customers. This was very valuable to Inertia because we do not have the engineering service in house.
— David Tooker, Director of Quality Assurance

MEP's Role

With this grant, MTEC scoped, designed and integrated the hardware and database systems to support real-time quality testing, data collection and use. MTEC created a hardware interface controller that extracted data from the automated test system and stored it in a database. From that database, MTEC generated web-based reports that produced switch quality data required by Inertia's customers. With this solution, test reports can be automatically generated reducing generation time and providing the ability to monitor testing results in real time.
