Enhancing Manufacturing Operational Efficiency: GENEDGE & Morphix Technologies

With the help of: GENEDGE

About

Since its inception in 1991, Morphix Technologies has remained at the forefront of colorimetric detection solutions-adapting to the inevitable changes in science and customer needs. It is this flexibility and longevity that make Morphix a leader in its industry.

The Challenge

Morphix's latest product, which launched in early 2024, required improvements in the manufacturing process to ensure efficient and cost-effective quality control.

Working with GENEDGE in the GoVA Retooling Program has been a great experience. The automated quality control system they helped us design and implement is already showing significant promise in terms of efficiency and cost savings. We’re excited to see how this system will help us drive continued growth.
— Bart Heenan, CEO, Morphix Technologies

MEP's Role

Morphix was accepted into the GoVA Retooling Program and worked with GENEDGE, part of the MEP National Network™, on commercialization and readiness of the product. Through this collaboration, the Morphix team was introduced to cutting-edge automation and mechatronic engineering solutions. Over the course of the project, Morphix and GENEDGE worked together to design an automated quality control system. This system not only enhanced production efficiency but also ensured that product quality remained at the highest level.

By leveraging expertise in mechatronic engineering, Morphix implemented an advanced, automated solution that drastically reduced the time and labor associated with quality control. With the newly-automated quality control system now operational, Morphix was able to launch its new product in early 2024. The system is expected to deliver significant cost savings and improve production scalability. Over the next few years, the new product will support the creation of 2-3 new jobs, over $300,000 in process and equipment investment, and significant new revenue streams for the company. As the company grows, the automation process will play a vital role in maintaining consistent product quality while meeting increased demand.
