Empowering Leadership: TechSolve's Transformative 12-Week Program at Seal-Tite

Seal-Tite LLC is located in Hillsboro, Ohio and proudly staffed by 143 employees. Seal-Tite is a sheet metal manufacturer of HVAC ducts, pipes and fittings. Hillsboro, Ohio is their only manufacturing plant; however, the company does have a warehouse in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, focusing on shipping and receiving.  hey also have outside sales representatives residing in both Indiana and Kentucky.

The Challenge

Seal-Tite was determined to provide their supervisors, managers and foremen more comprehensive training in the critical areas of communication, problem solving, team building, and leadership. Their deficiencies in these areas were negatively impacting employee morale and retention leading to a direct impact on productivity and Seal-Tite's ability to meet customer needs. Seal-Tite turned to TechSolve, part of the Ohio MEP and the MEP National Network™, for help.
Our company recently engaged with TechSolve - the SW Ohio MEP Regional Partner - for a series of workshops aimed at enhancing our team's skills in leadership and communication. From the outset, their commitment to understanding our unique needs stood out.  They fostered an engaging learning environment that encouraged participation and real-world application of concepts.  Moreover, the support didn't end with the sessions. MEP's Role

TechSolve's Operational Excellence Team Members Dan Shook and Sue Via created a 12-week customized, hybrid leadership program. Tooling U-SME provided the on-line learning courses. Sue Via conducted the in-person instruction. The participants were expected to complete homework and Tooling U-SME assignments before each of the following sessions: Problem Solving Session One - Management Tools;  Problem Solving Session Two: Approaches to Maintenance; Essentials of Leadership; Team Building and Accountability; Managing a Diverse Workplace; Essentials of Communications; Coaching; Team Leadership; Lessons Learned & Going Forward Presentation Capstone.  Each session had pre-work (Tooling U assignments), a hands-on, in-person session, and homework to help with applying the techniques. There were also one-on-one coaching sessions aimed at participants who want to have time to talk about their specific situations.

TechSolve partnered with the local Ohio industry sector partnership BestOhio for on-the-job training funds that also included an accountability checklist to ensure Seal-Tite's attendees utilized these skills. Currently, Seal-Tite's C-Suite is conducting continuous follow ups and coaching to ensure their management team has truly embraced this new leadership culture.
