About
Ashley Furniture manufacturing is located in North Mississippi with facilities in Ecru, Ripley, Saltillo, and Verona. The company does substantial training in upholstery. In the last 2-3 years Ashley Furniture has expanded into manufacturing of mattresses and bedding products using new automated systems purchased in Asia.
The Challenge
The company recently invested substantial capital in setting up a new operation in production of mattresses and bedding products. The company moved the mattress production system to the Saltillo location. Ashley Furniture invested heavily in automation systems in their Saltillo facility. In addition to starting up a new operation, the company is also doing a plant expansion in Ecru.
Itawamba Community College (ICC), a MMA-MEP Center and part of the MEP National Network™, and Ashley Furniture have a long standing, collaborative relationship since 2009. ICC has been a great asset and partner to Ashley Furniture’s training projects in upholstery.
MEP's Role
The MMA-MEP Center at Itawamba Community College (ICC), part of the MMA-MEP and the MEP National Network™, provided interpreter assistance to Ashley Furniture during the implementation of their new mattress production systems and workforce training for new hires.
