CIFT Assists Adcal with FSMA Facility Compliance

About

Adcal Adhesive Coatings and Laminations specializes in narrow web coating, laminating and slitting of web materials for label, tape, fabric, industrial and specialty applications. The company, located in Brunswick, Ohio, was founded in 2013. It has technical expertise in the coating, slitting and lamination processes, as well as knowledge about the design and formulation of products, from conception to production. Adcal can help companies develop products in the lab, run products on production equipment, and provide clients with the option to run the final product in Adcal's facility or the client's facility.

The Challenge

In order to continue the business partnership, Adcal's largest customer was requiring Adcal to complete all training and pass a third party Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audit. Adcal was unfamiliar with the third party audit process and the requirements needed to successfully pass the audit. The company reached out to MAGNET, who connected them with the Ohio MEP CIFT, both part of the Ohio MEP and the MEP National Network™, for their expertise.
It was great working with CIFT. Our largest customer ($6mm this year) required GMP certification to retain their business.
— David Westerfield, General Manager

MEP's Role

As a result of working with CIFT, Adcal was provided thorough training on the third party audit process. The Adcal team also worked with the CIFT experts to develop and implement the required food safety and good manufacturing practices and programs. Additionally, CIFT connected Adcal with an Ohio auditing company, in order to complete the annual audit. Adcal successfully completed their first audit after working with CIFT on training and implementing the required food safety and good manufacturing practices and programs.
