About

Advanced Metals Machining (AMM) is an Olyphant, Pennsylvania, based machining specialty firm that provides the aerospace, Department of Defense (DoD), optical and other industries with unique products machined from proprietary metal recipes. Their primary customers include well-known companies, such as Boeing, BAE, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, as well as smaller companies within critical defense and technology product supply chains.

Understanding today’s complex industry landscape demands for “just in time” delivery, AMM is constantly able to meet or exceed expected delivery dates. Its friendly professional staff carefully monitors the manufacturing process from the very first prototype through the entire manufacturing and assembly process. AMM stringently adheres to internal quality control, testing, OSHA and industry standards set by the governing bodies of ISO, AS and ITAR.

The Challenge

AMM had an urgent need to address cybersecurity, specifically the completion of a Cybersecurity Assessment (CSA), in response to customer requirements. A CSA identifies an organization’s information assets, along with the risks that could affect those assets. Its objective is to then take the necessary measures to limit and mitigate those risks.
NEPIRC has always been available when we needed them, and once again, this instance proved no differently.
— David Chiocchi, President

MEP's Role

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center (NEPIRC), part of the Pennsylvania MEP and the MEP National Network™, worked collaboratively with a third-party cybersecurity specialist and AMM to analyze the company’s cybersecurity environment and implement the controls needed to achieve the level of compliance and security required by AMM’s management and customers. NEPIRC also implemented the monitoring tools needed to ensure that controls remained in place.  Additionally, the engagement team documented policies and procedures to help ensure that all AMM employees were aware of their cybersecurity responsibilities and implemented continuous alerting and reporting mechanisms that gave AMM management confidence in knowing that the controls were implemented and working as intended.
