SFMade’s mission is to build and support a vibrant manufacturing sector in San Francisco that sustains companies producing locally-made products, encourages entrepreneurships and innovation, and creates employment opportunities for a diverse local workforce.

SFMade provides intensive advising to San Francisco Bay Area growth stage companies on:  Strategic Planning, Workforce and Hiring, Supply Chain, Real Estate Planning and Sales and Marketing.

Additional Initiatives

SFMade’s additional initiatives include the Bay Area Urban Manufacturing Initiative (BAUM). Launched in 2016, BAUM is a regional manufacturing ecosystem comprised of 30 cities and 1 county, collaborating to support local manufacturers and accelerate the growth of quality, middle-income jobs to create a stronger, more diverse, and more equitable regional economy.

Launched in 2018, Manufacture: San Jose is a partnership of the City of San Jose and the non-profits CMTC and SFMade. The MFG:SJ program is about helping manufacturing companies to start, grow and stay in San Jose, creating jobs for local residents, and building more shared prosperity and equity across the community.

SFMade’s nonprofit subsidiary PlaceMade actively secures and develops long-term, affordable industrial space like the Manufacturing Foundry, the Bay Area’s first, permanently affordable, multi-tenant building dedicated to manufacturing.
