Marisa Harriston is a Senior Communications and Outreach Strategist for the MITRE Corporation. She has worked with NIST staff at its National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence on projects in the areas of hospitality, mobile device security and finance. She has more than 10 years of digital communications experience in support of the nonprofit and public sectors.
Alper Kerman is a security engineer and project manager at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), NIST. He is the technical lead and project manager for zero trust and other collaborative projects with industry organizations, government agencies, and academia that address cybersecurity issues at NCCoE. He has over 30 years of experience in IT that spans software engineering, application security and project management across government agencies and private industry.
Barbara’s career at NIST has spanned the Advanced Technology Program, the Technology Innovation Program and the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace National Program Office. She is currently the deputy program manager for the NIST Cybersecurity for IoT Program and co-lead for the Cyber AI Profile.
Nakia Grayson is part of the Privacy Engineering Program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She supports the Privacy Engineering Program with development of privacy risk management best practices, guidance and communications efforts. She also leads Supply Chain Assurance project efforts at the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). Nakia serves as the Contracting Officer Representative for NIST cybersecurity contracts. She holds a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from University of Maryland-Eastern Shore and a Master’s in Information Technology, Information Assurance and Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.
Nader Moayeri has been a senior research scientist with the Advanced Network Technologies Division at NIST since 1997. His research interests are in wireless networking, indoor localization and tracking, and the Internet of Things. He received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering – systems from the University of Michigan in 1986.
Julie Haney is a Computer Scientist in the Visualization and Usability Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. She leads the NIST Human-Centered Cybersecurity Program and conducts research about the human element of cybersecurity and privacy. Previously she spent over 20 years working at Department of Defense as a cybersecurity professional and technical leader. She earned a Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She has a B.S. in Computer Science from Loyola University Maryland and an M.S. in Computer Science from University of Maryland.
Rik Johnsson is a mechanical engineer in the Fire Research Division’s WUI Fire Group. During his 29-year career at NIST, he has studied compartment fires, smoke toxicity, cooking fires, and vehicle fires, but more recently, his focus has been on wind-driven fire spread from accessory structures around buildings. Rik holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech.
Zane Patalive, MCSE is a founding partner at Real IT Care and regularly works with PA MEP’s small and medium-sized manufacturing clients to identify and implement technology and cybersecurity solutions. PA MEP is part of the MEP National NetworkTM.
Samuel Stavis is a physical scientist and group leader at NIST. He received a B.S.E. in engineering physics from the University of Michigan and an M.S. and Ph.D. in applied physics from Cornell University.
