2019 Feedback Ready Comments Refresher for CR Teams and Tech Editors Handout Word (large file)

Tech Editing

Welcome tech editors! Technical editing includes two parts; the first encompasses a high-level review of the draft scorebook and communication between the technical editor and the team leader. The second part encompasses a thorough quality check of the final scorebook.

As a technical editor, you will ensure that the content of one or more Consensus Review Scorebooks is correct. The scorebook is then checked for grammar and style. The end result is a feedback report for an award applicant—a key customer product of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.

Below are links to several tech-editing job aids. If you are having difficulty with the PowerPoint file formats, this Microsoft Office chart may be helpful.

Reminder: Feedback comments should consist of

  • A concise opening sentence that expresses a single thought—the "nugget"
  • One or two examples
  • The relevance or importance of the nugget to the applicant

2019 Tech Editors:

Examiners with the expertise to serve in this role (limited to master examiners and experienced senior examiners) are contacted directly by BPEP editors in late May and provided with information on the process, including annual training via a conference call in mid-June. Not all volunteers are selected due to the limited number of  scorebooks/feedback reports available each year.
