Severe Weather Emergencies

WEATHER WATCH: A severe weather event is possible in the area. 

WEATHER WARNING:  A severe weather event is happening or imminent. Take shelter immediately.

Take action by doing the following:

  • Move indoors.
  • Take cover in a basement or move to the center of a building, away from windows. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter.
  • Reference local media sources to monitor weather conditions.

Gaithersburg

If a tornado or destructive severe thunderstorm warning is issued by the National Weather Services (NWS) for Montgomery County, an announcement will sound through the fire alarm notification system.

    Boulder

    Sirens are used to alert Boulder County occupants to any potential all-hazard emergencies. A siren is located on the roof of Bldg #1. Tests of the sirens are announced in advance and are typically the first Monday of the month April through August.
