ESO general Evacuation

DO NOT USE ELEVATORS

  1. The alarms will sound.
  2. Leave equipment in a safe configuration, if time permits.
  3. Close office and lab doors.
  4. Leave the building by the nearest exit, do not use elevators.
  5. Move at least 25 yards (23 meters) away from the building.
  6. Contact your supervisor for accountability purposes via phone, text, or email, if necessary. 
  7. Wait for further instructions.
  8. Remain where you are, do not re-enter the building until an “All Clear” has been issued.

Be aware of emergency response vehicles and personnel. Follow directions from first responders.

Only re-enter once the “All Clear” is given !!!

Evacuation Assistance

When you are on the NIST campus and know that you will require assistance during an evacuation, ask your supervisor, sponsor, or host to assist you in completing the Evacuation Assistance Form before an emergency event occurs.
