NIST in South Carolina

NIST in South Carolina

  • The Hollings Marine Laboratory (HML) is a world-class research facility, with a mission to provide science and biotechnology applications to sustain, protect, and restore coastal ecosystems, with emphasis on links between environmental condition and the health of marine organisms and humans. The HML is a unique partnership of governmental and academic agencies including NIST, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, College of Charleston, and Medical University of South Carolina.
  • The HML is home to the  NIST Biorepository, which are cryogenic facilities for long term-archival of well documented and preserved specimens for both retrospective and comparative environmental health analysis.
