Zoila Jurado is a NRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Cellular Engineering Group at NIST Engineering Biology Program. Her current work focuses on advancing measurement assurance for cell-free expression systems from diverse samples, including reconstituted and microbial systems, to promote reproducibility, best practices, and standards in synthetic biology. Zoila develops and models a suite of characterization assays for cell-free systems and is part of the collaborative effort to leverage automation, specifically the NIST Living Measurement Systems Foundry (LMSF), for high-throughput characterization and standardization of cell-free platforms. Her research contributes to establishing robust measurement frameworks that bridge in vitro and cellular environments, facilitating predictive engineering with biological systems and accelerating innovation in synthetic biology workflows through improved measurement science and automated experimentation.
