  1. Multi-Generational Workforce Perspectives (Heritage Room)

    Overview: The purpose of this session is to introduce the prevailing concepts, perspectives, and tools, for managing a dynamic and vibrant multi-generational workforce that is comprised of Baby Boomers to Millennials.
    The session is designed to look at five generations and their unique set of characteristics in terms of life events, values, experiences, world view, definitions of work and communication styles.
  2. Succession Planning in Your Organization (Lecture Room A)

    Overview: The purpose of this session is to introduce the prevailing concepts, perspectives, and tools, for succession planning of a revolving resource management workforce. In addition to general concepts and tools, the presenters will share a "best of breed" success story for the newly implemented Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Succession Planning model that both presenters developed and employed.
    This session will be designed as a dual presenter teach session combining high level concepts and tools alongside the practical benchmark federal program example created by ICE.
  3. Managing in a Telework World (Lecture Room B)

    Slides: Telework - How Do We Make It Work?
    Overview: Michelle Picard (USPTO Senior Advisor to the CFO) will lead a discussion of the CFO’s telework program.  The discussion will include a dialogue on the Framework and Structure of the OCFO telework program, along with practical tips and lessons learned on how the program was implemented, and the controls that are embedded in the program.  The panel membership will include the perspectives of a manager and an employee who are active teleworkers, along with tips and best practices that help ensure a successful telework experience.  Time will be built-in to allow for detailed questions from the audience.
  4. Suspending Judgment: A Key to Creating a Diverse, Culturally Competent, and Inclusive Workplace (West Square)

    Overview: The purpose of this session is to introduce the prevailing concepts, perspectives, and tools, for creating and managing a dynamic and vibrant resource management workforce that is comprised of diverse members and reinforces an environment that maximizes inclusion.  Participants will:
    • Explore the connection--cultural competence, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion.
    • Learn how suspending judgment helps inspire diversity of thought and drives innovation.
    • Examine how their identification with multiple dimensions of diversity can help them interact more authentically with coworkers, customers, and the community.
  5. Plain Language (Lecture Room D)

    Overview: Writing in “Plain Language” – The Plain Writing Act of 2010 requires that federal agencies provide "clear Government communication that the public can understand and use."  Apart from that requirement, writing that is easy to understand saves time and money.  Plain Language in budget documents can help OMB and Congress appreciate the importance of our programs.  This workshop will help you meet the Plain Language requirements and reap the benefits of writing that is clear and concise.
