Strategy Stories
Anne Kim from FutureEd presented on Rise of Micro-Credentialing in K-12 Education, empathizing that micro-credentialing is rapidly expanding in K-12 settings, especially in career and technical education (CTE).
Framework Feature
Matt Walsh from Lightcast provided a CyberSeek update to the community. Matt mentioned that NICE Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity (NICE Framework) TKS data is now available to better connect roles with demand and education.
Project Updates
The Promote Career Discovery Working Group recently published the Options for Entering the Cybersecurity Workforce Flier. This flier showcases “entry points” which outline different paths into cybersecurity careers.
The Cybersecurity Career Ambassadors Community of Interest has refined the ambassador onboarding process and launched formal regional hubs. The group is in the process of developing a best practice guide to support both new and experienced ambassadors.
The K12 Cybersecurity Education Community of Interest has the following projects in place: Cybersecurity Career Week, a best practices guide, and
a library media toolkit.
The NICE Framework Users Group is working to expand stakeholder conversations and resource visibility of the NICE Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity (NICE Framework).

The 2025 NICE Conference & Expo in Denver, CO hosted 450 attendees from 42 states and several countries. The conference featured 28 breakout sessions and 4 NICE Community of Interest sessions. View recorded presentations here.
The NICE K12 Cybersecurity Education Conference is scheduled for December 8–9, 2025, in Nashville, TN. Register by October 10, 2025, to receive the early-bird rate.
The US Cyber Games launched Season 5 with over 2,000 registrants for kickoff and competitions.
Danielle Santos and Karen Wetzel from NICE presented on the next NICE Strategic Plan that will cover 2026-2030. The planning cycle includes environmental scanning and goal alignment, with draft goals shaped through community conversations, working groups, and feedback.

The NICE Community Coordinating Council meets monthly to engage with public and private sector participants on cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development topics.
Additionally, the NICE Community Coordinating Council is comprised of three Working Groups and three Communities of Interest, each with their own meeting cadence.
