CIB Presents: An International Workshop on Integrated Design & Delivery Solutions (IDDS)

The International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) one-day international workshop took place on April 18, 2012, to showcase global research, technology and innovative practices in architecture, engineering and construction (AEC).

The workshop was co-hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), FIATECH, and the Architecture plus Construction Alliance (A+CA), currently directed by Virginia Tech's College of Architecture and Urban Studies. The workshop steering committee is chaired by Nicole Testa Boston (FIATECH) and includes members Shyam Sunder (CIB and NIST), Jack Davis (CIB and Virginia Tech), and Andrew P. McCoy (CIB IDDS and Virginia Tech). The coordinator of the CIB Priority Theme IDDS is Robert Owen of The University of Salford, UK. Speakers will range from CIB Board members, including President John McCarthy and Secretary General Wim Bakens, to industry and academic leaders in AEC.

The workshop presentations and discussions covered three
concentrated areas:

  • Trends in emerging technologies and innovative practices
    (led by FIATECH),
  • Research and education outputs(led by Virginia Tech), and
  • Innovative design and delivery solutions (led by CIB's IDDS Team).
