Sealevel Systems Incorporated Increases Sales Following SCMEP’s CMMC Compliance Services

About

Since 1986, Sealevel has redefined design, engineering, and manufacturing for industrial computers, Ethernet serial servers, USB serial, PCI Express and PCI bus cards, and software. Located in Liberty, South Carolina, Sealevel offers over 350 core products, available in nearly every configuration imaginable, as well as custom design capabilities and a state-of the art manufacturing process. The company employs over 90 people.

The Challenge

Sealevel Systems was looking to increase their business by capturing a potential opportunity with General Electric that would support the manufacture of the company’s wind turbines and gas turbines. The company contacted SCMEP, part of the MEP National Network™, for help.
Sealevel has experienced unprecedented growth over the past three years. Our partnership with SCMEP has helped ameliorate some of the challenges associated with that growth by providing direct support for our cybersecurity initiatives as well as an awareness of the tools employed by our fellow SC manufacturers. As a result, we’re on a great trajectory to ensure continued expansion and to meet future opportunities with intentional infrastructure and strategies.
— Brandon Hansen, COO

MEP's Role

SCMEP resources provided support to ensure Sealevel was able to comply with the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Achieving compliance with this standard allowed the company to bid and ultimately be awarded the GE contract worth approximately $36 million. Sealevel is also a long-standing member of SCMEP’s OpExChange peer-to-peer benchmarking and best practices group. The company’s involvement in this group has resulted in a range of operational improvements. This in turn allowed existing sales to be retained, costs to be reduced, and gave the owners confidence to invest in new plant equipment, workforce development initiatives, and information systems.
