Trifecta Houseboats: Leadership Development Success Story

About

Located in “the houseboat capital of the world”, Trifecta Houseboats creates the dream boat their customers have in mind. In 1953 the Lake Cumberland area of Southeastern Kentucky was credited with creating the first lake-style houseboat. Since 2014, the Legacy Brands, including Thoroughbred Houseboats, Stardust Cruisers, and Sumerset Houseboats, have been built in an expanded manufacturing facility located in Monticello, Kentucky. Each brand brings to the table industry power and brand recognition, plus vast knowledge and experience.

The Challenge

Trifecta Houseboats’ business has grown to the point that deliveries are pushed out by several months and they are striving to improve throughput and safety throughout the operation.
The leadership training taught our guys how to think. They learned to write work instructions and learned how to look at work and how the job could be improved. The training was a big help to our company.
— Jason Stockton, President

MEP's Role

AKA, part of the MEP National Network™, provided safety and leadership development training for the production floor leaders. An initial safety assessment indicated some opportunities for improvement. A Safety 101 class was held as well as workshops for aerial lift safety and fall prevention. Leadership development workshops included leading teams, leader as coach, and communicating effectively. TWI (training within industry) leadership workshops, which included job instruction, job methods, and job relations, were also conducted.
