AS9100:2016 Internal Auditor Training

About

Victor Enterprises, Inc. is a quality driven CNC machine shop that focuses on high-tolerance precision machining, full manufacturing production, fabrication and assembly for the commercial heavy industry sector. Victor Enterprises, Inc. has been operating for over 45 years, and is a second-generation family owned business that is well known for their manufacturing excellence. During that time, they have produced a variety of products and parts for their customers. They are especially known for machining/manufacturing precision air compressor components.

The Challenge

Over many successful years in business, Victor Enterprises, Inc. found itself with a desire to increase and diversify their customer base. Because of their precision work capabilities and their ability to handle large, heavy parts, they looked to build a presence in the aerospace and defense markets. The first step to reaching that goal was to have their quality management system (QMS) certified to AS9100:2016.
In late 2019, Victor Enterprises, Inc. (VEI) decided to expand our customer base with an increased focus on the aerospace and defense industries. With the help of Advantage Kentucky Alliance, VEI upgraded their quality management system certification from ISO 9001:2015 to AS9100:2016 certification. Our services include design, high-tolerance precision machining, full manufacturing production, fabrication, and assembly. We specialize in the machining of castings, forgings, weldments, plastics, and metals (including special/exotic metals). We also provide repair/remanufacturing services of non-aerospace parts in accordance with customer/government specifications and requirements. Industries that we can now serve include, but are not limited to; aeronautical, aviation, space, defense, heavy-industrial, marine, and military applications.

MEP's Role

VEI President, Victor Sredl, engaged Advantage Kentucky Alliance professionals, part of the MEP National Network™, to train the company’s quality team to meet the AS9100:2016 standards. An AKA Quality Management Systems trainer evaluated VEI’s current QMS and helped ramp it up to the next level. AKA reviewed all of the company’s ISO 9001:2015 documentation, and performed a gap analysis. The gap analysis pinpointed specific areas of the QMS that were missing or needed revisions in order to make the leap from ISO 9001:2015 to AS 9100:2016. It saved the company time, and provided an extremely valuable and direct approach to making the required changes to meet the AS 9100 standard.
In the end, AKA provided an excellent resource. This enabled Victor Enterprises, Inc. the ability to earn their AS9100:2016 certification, while doing it under budget and ahead of schedule and during a pandemic.
