Announcement, Meeting of the IEEE Standards Working Group P-1622 on
Voting Systems Electronic Data Interchange
March 8-9, 2012
Location: Building 222, Room A314, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, MD
IEEE Standards Working Group P1622 on Voting Systems Electronic Data Interchange will hold a two-day meeting in Gaithersburg MD, on March 8 and 9. The meeting will be held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg MD, Building 222, Room A314.
The purpose of the meeting is to present an aggressive work plan and series of use case standards with the goal of completion by P1622 in calendar year 2012. This strategy will involve creation of a series of P1622 use case standards dealing with the following aspects of election data:
This meeting will include detailed reports on each of these proposed standards, focusing on the EML schemas that support the election data and on the documentation needed for how the associated elements would be used.
Manufacturers of election equipment and election officials are especially urged to attend this meeting, as their input is vital to the standardization process. The meeting will be of interest in general to those wishing to better understand the importance of a common data format for election systems and how to assist with this standardization effort.
It will be possible to participate in the meeting via web-based teleconferencing; details for how to connect to the teleconference will be posted and sent separately. You must be present for at least ½ of the meeting in order to be counted as having attended the meeting (P1622 membership requires attendance for at least two consecutive meetings). Participation among those who are not yet P1622 members is welcome.
