NIST Framework and Roadmap of Smart Grid Interoperability Standards, Release 4.0
NIST is currently working on a major, new release of the Framework. This website provides an overview of the project, including draft material that is under consideration and review by the smart grid stakeholder community. It will be updated regularly, so check back often.
As for previous Frameworks, NIST will engage stakeholders in industry, government, and academia for advice and feedback during the Framework development process. Over the coming five months—June 2018 through October 2018—NIST will convene stakeholder workshops to explore the most important ideas in Release 4.0.
Smart grid stakeholders—from utilities, vendors, and equipment manufacturers to renewable power producers, retail service providers, and regulators—can use these sessions to understand the role interoperability will have in shaping today’s complex electricity ecosystem.
An introductory webinar and two workshops have already been scheduled, and four regional workshops are being planned for late summer and early fall. Here are details about upcoming events:
- June 6, 2018, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT - Introductory Webinar
- July 9, 2018 - Testing and Certification Workshop, Washington Hilton, Washington, DC
- July 24-25, 2018 - Communication Pathways Scenarios Workshop, NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland
Four additional regional workshops are being organized for the Northeast, Midwest, West Coast, and Southwest. The focus of these regional workshops will be Grid Operations and Economics. The workshops will be held in August, September, and October. As details are finalized, they will be posted on this webpage.
